Tuesday, April 22, we celebrate National School Bus Driver Appreciation Day—a time to honor the dedicated professionals who ensure our students travel safely to and from school each day. Their commitment to safety, punctuality, and kindness sets the tone for a successful school day.

At Murray City School District (MCSD), our transportation services are vital to our educational mission. We provide busing for eligible students at Horizon, Parkside, and Longview Elementary Schools, both junior high schools, and Murray High School. Eligibility is determined based on the student’s home address in accordance with state distance requirements and school boundaries.

MCSD operates 11 daily bus routes during the school year, with centralized stops designed for safety and efficiency. Students are expected to adhere to the same behavioral standards on the bus as they do in school, promoting a respectful and secure environment for all.

While the district does not provide supervision at bus stops, we encourage parents to accompany their children to and from these locations. Students should arrive at their designated stops at least five minutes early to ensure timely departures.

Beyond daily transportation, our buses support various school activities, including field trips and sporting events. Our drivers, holding active Commercial Driver’s Licenses (CDLs), undergo extensive training focused on student safety and emergency preparedness. During inclement weather, transportation considerations play a key role in decisions regarding school closures or delays.

MCSD is always looking for dedicated individuals to join our transportation team as substitute or permanent bus drivers. This role offers competitive compensation and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to our community. For more information, please contact LeAuna Brown at (801) 264-7400.
